Document Service
Our International Document Service offers a door-to-door service for time-sensitive documents with no commercial value. Documents are defined as unbound printed paper i.e. letters, reports, memos, proposals, tenders, plans, banking or shipping documents or similar paper based documentation up to 5kg’s in weight.
Non-document Service
Our International non-document service offers a door-to-door service for time sensitive non-document requirements. Non-documents are defined as anything other than documents e.g. Documents containing photographs, document shipments exceeding 5kg’s, electronic equipment, x-rays, books, advertising material, samples, videos, spares and other non-document commodities.
Airfreight
This service is available on a door-to-door or door-to-terminal basis for heavier, more bulky consignments that are not particularly time sensitive, either delivery duty unpaid (DDU) or delivery duty paid (DDP) (at country of origin). Delivery times are dependent on the destination country and on customs clearance at the destination country. Each consignment is quoted separately according to the shipment size, weight, urgency, and the delivery destination.
Sea Freight
At BEX Express, we offer a comprehensive range of sea freight solutions to suit your needs. Whether it’s imports or exports, 20ft or 40ft containers, FCL (Full Container Load) or LCL (Less than Container Load), we’ve got you covered. Our team can handle FOB clearances on arrival and ensure your cargo is delivered right to your door. With an average transit time of 30–40 days, depending on origin and destination, BEX Express provides a reliable, end-to-end sea freight service you can trust.

Through our very own customs facility at O.R Tambo International Airport, BEX is ideally positioned to work closely with South African Customs to offer you a reliable, smooth, and effective import option for your goods.
Special Consignments

This includes proactive shipment management, pre-alerting destination agents, and early document submission for customs pre-clearance. How to Send an International Shipment

Request a Quote
To provide an accurate quotation, the following information is required:
- Number of shipments
- Weight and dimensions of each shipment
- Description and nature of the goods
- Full collection and delivery addresses

Quote Approval & Collection
Once the quotation is approved, BEX will arrange collection from your location or the specified pickup address.

Documentation Preparation
Ensure that a commercial invoice is attached to the shipment, clearly reflecting:
- Sender’s customs code
- Receiver’s customs code
Accurate documentation is essential to avoid delays during transit and customs clearance.

International Transit
The shipment is transported via the most suitable international carrier to the destination country.

Customs Clearance at Destination
Upon arrival, the shipment undergoes customs clearance.
- The receiver is responsible for all customs duties and taxes, unless the shipment is sent DDP (Delivered Duty Paid).

Final Delivery & Proof of Delivery
Once customs release is granted, the shipment is delivered to the final destination. Proof of Delivery (POD) is provided to the shipper.

Import Shipments
For import bookings, the same process applies. In addition, the following international collection details are required:
- Contact person’s name and surname
- Telephone number
- Email address
BEX will issue the collection instructions and shipping labels, which must be printed and securely affixed to the shipment before collection by the appointed service provider.

How long does international shipping take?
We provide guidelines for transit times from country to country. Transit times may be affected by flight changes or delays in clearing customs.
What documents do I need for international freight forwarding?
We must have an invoice from the shipper to the receiver and both the shipper and receiver’s customs codes must reflect on the invoice. Clear descriptions of all goods inside the shipment are required, quantities, true values and the import/export reason.
Do you handle import courier services to South Africa?
Yes, we offer a full import and export service. Some countries prohibit the distribution of certain items, others have legal restrictions in place authorising imports to their main ports, but the receiver is then required to handle their own clearance and deliveries.
Can I ship dangerous goods internationally?
Yes, BEX can facilitate the shipment of dangerous goods. Any consignment that falls into this category for carriage by air must conform to the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and be packaged accordingly. The shipment should be accompanied by the invoice, as well as the Material Safety Data Sheet.
